Me and my friends always joke that should one of us win the lottery, we’d share out the big bucks between us – and a similarly minded pensioner from Bury St Edmunds has done just that with her massive win on the bingo.

According to the Bury Free Press, Joyce Middleton – who is 80 – won both the national and regional zone jackpots at her local hall last week. The wins saw her scoop a whopping £23,000 and she has chosen to share her haul with her best mate – and fellow bingo fan – Yvonne Turner, 67.

Ms Middleton told the newspaper that the pair have always shared their winnings, but their biggest pot so far was a measly £50.

Bingo hall manager Sally Bowers said: "The moment she won was wonderful. She got a big round of applause and everyone congratulated her. She’s a regular and a really lovely lady – we couldn’t have chosen a nicer person to win it."

However, Joyce has got some way to go before she beats bingo winner Christine Bradfield, from Bargoed, who scooped more than a £1 million back in 2008.

Would you share your bingo winnings with a mate?

Keep playing, bingo fans.

Kate Bacon.
