Regulars at a pub in Kidderminster have helped a project for blind local residents to keep up with the news going for the near future, it has been reported.

The Wyre Forest Talking Newspaper was first set up three decades ago and helps more than 250 local residents who are partially sighted or blind to keep on top of the area’s news, reported the Kidderminster Shuttle.

Those who volunteer for the project read the paper copy of the local press and then record themselves reading it out, but the scheme was under threat was lack of equipment and low funding.

Now, with the help of the Kidderminster and District Lions Club and local pub goers, they can keep going.

Regulars at the Rising Sun pub in Stourport donated £1,000 to the scheme, which was raised by bingo nights and other events.

Meanwhile, bingo fans in Burton are set to benefit from a new school hall in the town, reported the Burton Mail.

Have you ever played bingo for a good cause?

Keep helping, bingo fans.
