Do you think that it’s always the women who are making the cuppas in your office?

If so, then you’re thoughts would be correct as a new sexual equality row has blown up over the daily ritual of making tea in the workplace.

New research by Fairtrade drinks company Cafedirect has revealed that women make more than three times as many brews for their male colleagues than they receive in return.

How scandalous!

Some 62 per cent of workshy men out there admitted to regularly inventing ways to get them out of putting the kettle on, with meetings, fake phone calls and deadlines all cited as tea-avoidance tactics.

And it may surprise you to know that a whopping four in ten arguments in the workplace are caused by people making a cuppa for themselves and not their colleagues.

Blimey, we never knew our favourite beverage could be so controversial!

Another recent survey by uSwitchforbusiness.com found that one-third of Brits said that work perks such as free tea and coffee improve their working day.

Do you avoid putting the kettle on at work?

Stay generous, tea-lovers.
