A staggering 5,000 cups of tea were consumed during the construction of a giant poppy man at Heathrow Airport.
The brews were the drink of choice for the thirsty workers, who spent 1,000 man hours working on the project.
Now completed, the five metre high poppy man stands in Terminal 5 and is a tribute to the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal.
More than 8,000 poppies were brought together to make the creation, which was built with wire mesh, steel plate and steel work.
It weighs 850 kg and will be displayed in the airport’s terminal until November 12th.
Mark Murphy, operations director at Terminal 5, said they were delighted to be working with the Royal British Legion.
"We know our passengers care about the work done by the Legion and it is, frankly, a privilege to be able to play our part in supporting the campaign this year," he added.
Each year on November 11th the UK remembers those who have given their lives for the country in battle.
