Queen drinks tea for breakfast

The Queen likes to start her day like much of the rest of the country – with a cup of tea.

According to the Daily Mail, Queen Elizabeth enjoys a morning brew in her bedroom while she looks through the day’s papers.

Her breakfast tray, which contains a cup of tea, a slice of white toast with butter and jam, and sometimes an oat biscuit, is brought to her at 8am each day.

The publication claims that the monarch’s breakfast is prepared formally and laid out on a platter above which reads a sign that says "HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh’s breakfast tray".

While the Queen munches on her breakfast, Prince Phillip is said to prefer to eat Ryvita or granary toast.

Last week the Queen enjoyed a cup of tea with around 90 former Land Girls.

The Second World War veterans were invited to Buckingham Palace to have a brew with the monarch and reminisce about their experiences during the war.
